Little library of games at the hospital

While planning our Bronze award project, we learned about a special need at a local hospital for kids to have activities and games available while they wait for treatments they need to receive. Some kids need to spend several hours at the hospital and are looking for ways to pass the time. Our troop decided to build a little library to have at the infusion center. We filled the library with some of our favorite games and activities. Everything in the library needed to be laminated so that each item or card can be wiped clean between each use.

Card games we included:

  • Phase 10
  • Old Maid
  • Uno
  • Go fish

We also made blankets to donate for kids who need care at the hospital. They can use the blankets while they are there and then take them home. For some of us, this was our first time sewing. We got to learn about the machine and how to sew two pieces of fabric together to make a two sided blanket.

Are you a troop needing a Take Action project? We would love for you to build a little library of your own or sew and donate blankets for kids or families who could use a cozy comfort.
